Services and Amenities

Basements

  • Basements are available for use in each quad in South Wymount Terrace (except Quad 3).
  • Basements can only be reserved between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm for up to three hours.
  • Basements can be scheduled 30 days in advance.
  • Tenants reserving the basement are responsible to clean up (put away chairs, remove garbage, etc.). If the basement is left dirty, a charge will be added to the tenant’s student account.
  • Tenants should call the Wymount Office at least 48 hours in advance to schedule a basement.
  • Basements cannot be used for club or business events or to watch movies.
  • Red punch is not permitted in the basements.

Community Aides

  • Community Aides are Student Family Housing tenants chosen to help promote a sense of belonging to their respective communities.
  • Community Aides are not employees of the university, but offer a service to their local community when available.
  • Community Aides provide the following services:
    • Orient tenants when moving in.
    • Provide mail keys.
    • Provide tenants fire lane access for move in/move out purposes. (Complexes 8, 9, 10, & 11 only)
    • Assist Residence Life management in after-hour emergencies.
    • Conduct annual maintenance and safety inspections to document smoke detectors are functioning properly, review housing policies, and record any maintenance concerns.
  • Community Aides are not responsible for interpreting university or housing procedures or guidelines. Tenants who have any questions regarding these items should contact Residence Life management at their area office.

Wymount Terrace & Wyview Park Offices

These offices provide several services. Tenants may:

  • Purchase postage stamps (Cougar Cash only).
  • Use a photocopier for $0.07 per page.
  • Borrow a moving dolly at no charge.
  • Borrow a key to the tenants dwelling or mailbox.
    • Keys may be checked out Monday through Friday during office hours and must be returned the same day.
    • A $1.00 charge per day will be assessed to your Student Account if the key is not returned promptly.

Furnishing & Appliances

  • Dwellings include a family-sized refrigerator, range, garbage disposal, and blinds.
  • Each dwelling is equipped with internet access.
  • Tenants can bring their own compatible wireless router and connect to the university’s network data jack for internet access.
  • Ranges in Wymount Terrace Quads 2-6, Quads 16-17, and all buildings in Wyview Park are fueled by gas. Ranges in Wymount Terrace Quads 8-15 are electric.
  • Appliance malfunctions should be reported immediately to Auxiliary Maintenance at 801-422-4411, where arrangements will be made to have the unit repaired. In some cases it may be necessary to take the appliance to the shop for repair. In this case, a temporary replacement will be left in the dwelling until the appliance is repaired. Tenants may not remove appliances from the dwelling.

Laundry Facilities

  • Student Family Housing is serviced by various laundromats. Each laundromat has standard-size washers and dryers, double-load washers and dryers, and two soak sinks.
  • The washers and dryers can be operated with coins or by using Cougar Cash. Once a rental agreement begins, tenants receive the discounted pricing shown below (pricing effective 5/7/2019):

  • NOTE: Laundry card readers will not reflect the Cougar Cash discount. Correct discounted charges will appear in Cougar Cash transactions.
  • If the tenant's spouse is not a student, the tenant and their spouse will need to be linked in the relationships section of their myBYU accounts, and the tenant's spouse will need to obtain a BYU ID card in order to load Cougar Cash and receive the laundry discount. Instructions for adding a spouse and obtaining a spouse BYU ID card can be found by visiting the ID Center Website.
  • The laundry discount will take 24 hours to apply to the spouse's BYU ID card after the steps above are followed.
  • If the tenant does not receive the discounted price when using their Cougar Cash, the tenant should call the ID Center at 801-422-3866, email idcenter@byu.edu, or go to the ID center (1057 WSC, see idcenter.byu.edu).
  • Laundry equipment and facilities are maintained daily by custodial and maintenance personnel.
  • Malfunctions or problems with laundry equipment should be reported to Auxiliary Maintenance at 801-422-4411 during business hours, Monday through Friday.
  • Tenants who do not receive the discounted price when using their Cougar Cash, must, within 30 days of the missed discount, provide a printout of their Cougar Cash account with the nondiscounted charges highlighted to the Cougar Cash Office at 1057 WSC.
  • If the laundry machines malfunction and Cougar Cash funds are taken out of the tenants account, the tenants should contact the Cougar Cash Office at 801-422-3866 to receive a refund.
  • Tenants should not leave items unattended at any time in the laundry facilities. The university is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Dry Cleaning

  • Dry cleaning services are available from BYU Laundry (ULB). For questions about dry cleaning or other laundry services, tenants should visit the BYU Laundry web site or call 801-422-2518.

Recreation & Play Areas

  • Playground equipment is provided in the Student Family Housing areas.
  • Parents allow children to play on these facilities at their own risk and agree to release the university from any liability arising from the use of these facilities, even if it results from the university’s negligence.
  • Student Family Housing provides volleyball courts, basketball courts, picnic areas, and recreational lawn areas.

Storage

  • Locker facilities are available to Student Family Housing tenants (subject to availability).
  • A limited supply of lockers are located at Wymount Terrace.
  • Full-sized lockers are $3.00 a month and measures 48 in. wide x 42 in. high x 24 in. deep.
  • Smaller lockers varying in dimensions for $2.00 a month.
  • Charges will be posted on the tenant’s university account and may be paid with monthly rent.
  • Basic locker rules are as follows:
    • Lockers must be reserved through the Wymount Terrace Office (801-422-2549).
    • Any lockers being used without having been reserved and rented will have the lock cut. Items found inside unauthorized lockers will be subject to the lost and found policy.
    • Tenants should not put items in a locker unless it is tagged (by the office) with the tenant's name.
    • Flammable liquids may not be stored in the storage lockers.
    • Items stored around the lockers will be removed
    • Tenants must provide their own lock and keep the locker locked at all times. Lockers without locks are subject to reassignment, and items are subject to disposal.
    • Tenants may only reserve one locker per dwelling.
    • Tenants who need access to the storage locker should contact the Community Aide in advance and arrange a time to meet. Tenants wishing to get into the locker immediately may not be able to do so.
  • Tenants should contact the Wymount Terrace Office if the locker is no longer being used.
  • Tenants who have issued a termination notice must empty the locker by midnight of the move-out date given in the termination notice. Lockers will be inspected the following day. Locks will be cut and items removed at owner's expense.
  • With the exception of the storage lockers, no storage areas outside the dwellings are provided.

Utilities

  • Monthly rent includes gas, water, sewer/refuse removal, Campus Television, and high-speed internet connection.
  • Telephone landlines are not available.
  • Tenants are responsible for electricity according to use.
